New York (May 2, 2000) -- Sarah Chubb has been promoted to president of CondéNet (www.condenet.com), the leading creator and developer of upscale brands online. The announcement was made today by Steve Newhouse, chairman of Advance.net, and Steven T. Florio, president and CEO of Condé Nast.

Ms. Chubb, who had been director of CondéNet since 1996, will be in charge of its entire Web operation, which includes five flagship sites: Epicurious (food), PHYS (fitness) Concierge (travel), Swoon (relationships), and Vogue.com (fashion), in addition to the recently announced Style.com, a fashion service that will launch later this year.

"Sarah Chubb has developed CondéNet's online brands as leaders in their categories, while maintaining the high standard of quality that is the hallmark of Condé Nast," said Mr. Newhouse.

Under Ms. Chubb's direction, CondéNet's traffic increased to nearly 400 million unique page views in 1999. She oversaw the deal that led to the development of the first television program to be spawned by a Web site, "Epicurious," now in its second season with the Discovery Channel. Last year, advertising sales for CondéNet jumped by 70% with such diverse clients as Audi, Delta, Kraft Foods, Neiman Marcus and Proctor & Gamble, among others.

"With her experience in media, Ms. Chubb has been successfully able to leverage the fundamentals of the magazine business with the Internet," said Mr. Florio.

Ms. Chubb has been involved in new and traditional media for more than 15 years. Prior to joining CondéNet, Ms. Chubb was associate publisher of Condé Nast's Allure and was the magazine's advertising director from 1993 to 1995. She was also involved in the launch of the U.S. edition of Elle, where she served as an account executive from 1984 to 1986.

In addition to Ms. Chubb's appointment, Goli Sheikholeslami is promoted to senior vice president and general manager. Ms. Sheikholeslami previously had the role of general manager. She will report directly to Ms. Chubb.

"Goli Sheikholeslami is a talented executive whose exceptional combination of strategic and operational skills have contributed to every aspect of our growth and success to date," said Ms. Chubb.
