Sarah Chubb named president of CondéNet
Goli Sheikholeslami promoted to senior vice president and general
manager
New York (May 2, 2000) -- Sarah Chubb has been promoted to president
of CondéNet (www.condenet.com), the leading creator and developer
of upscale brands online. The announcement was made today by Steve
Newhouse, chairman of Advance.net, and Steven T. Florio, president
and CEO of Condé Nast.
Ms. Chubb, who had been director of CondéNet since 1996, will
be in charge of its entire Web operation, which includes five flagship
sites: Epicurious (food), PHYS (fitness) Concierge (travel), Swoon
(relationships), and Vogue.com (fashion), in addition to the recently
announced Style.com, a fashion service that will launch later this
year.
"Sarah Chubb has developed CondéNet's online brands as leaders
in their categories, while maintaining the high standard of quality
that is the hallmark of Condé Nast," said Mr. Newhouse.
Under Ms. Chubb's direction, CondéNet's traffic increased to
nearly 400 million unique page views in 1999. She oversaw the deal
that led to the development of the first television program to be
spawned by a Web site, "Epicurious," now in its second season with
the Discovery Channel. Last year, advertising sales for CondéNet
jumped by 70% with such diverse clients as Audi, Delta, Kraft Foods,
Neiman Marcus and Proctor & Gamble, among others.
"With her experience in media, Ms. Chubb has been successfully able
to leverage the fundamentals of the magazine business with the Internet,"
said Mr. Florio.
Ms. Chubb has been involved in new and traditional media for more
than 15 years. Prior to joining CondéNet, Ms. Chubb was associate
publisher of Condé Nast's Allure and was the magazine's advertising
director from 1993 to 1995. Before that, she was advertising manager
of Vogue from 1991 to 1993. A member of the team that launched New
York Woman, Ms. Chubb held the position of group advertising director.
She was also involved in the launch of the U.S. edition of Elle, where
she served as an account executive from 1984 to 1986.
In addition to Ms. Chubb's appointment, Goli Sheikholeslami is promoted
to senior vice president and general manager. Ms. Sheikholeslami previously
had the role of general manager. She will report directly to Ms. Chubb.

Sarah
Chubb is the president of CondéNet, the leading creator and developer
of upscale lifestyle brands online. CondéNet, along with Advance Internet,
is a business of Advance.net., the online division of Advance Publications,
Inc. As president, Ms. Chubb oversees the operation of the company's
Internet brands. She was promoted to president in April 2000.
Previously,
since 1996, Ms. Chubb was director of CondéNet. She led its expansion
to the current roster of three destination sites, including Epicurious,
Concierge and STYLE.com. Under Ms. Chubb's direction, CondéNet sites
have built substantial audiences and gained strong advertiser support.
In
addition, Ms. Chubb has successfully steered CondéNet's sites through
numerous technological innovations and other enhancements, including
the introduction of e-commerce features on Epicurious, Concierge
and STYLE.com, as well as the implementation of other new technologies
to maintain the sites' position on the Internet vanguard. She was
also responsible for the development of "Epicurious" the first television
program to be spawned from the Web. "Epicurious" is now in its third
season on the Discovery Channel.
Ms. Chubb is also an industry advocate and pioneer. Under her leadership,
CondéNet became a founding member of the Online Publishers Association
(OPA) in June 2001. In addition to serving as CondéNet's representative
to OPA, Ms. Chubb was elected and serves as the organization's first
secretary.
Ms.
Chubb has been involved in new and traditional media for more than
16 years. Prior to taking the helm at CondéNet, Ms. Chubb was associate
publisher of Condé Nast's Allure and was the magazine's advertising
director from 1993 to 1995. Before that, she was advertising manager
of Vogue from 1991 to 1993. A member of the team that launched New

Chubb holds a B.A. degree in English and American Literature and Language
from Harvard University. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and
two children.

Goli Sheikholeslami is the senior vice president and general manager

from a revenue, traffic and organizational perspective. Ms. Sheikholeslami
has been instrumental in all of the company's key strategic initiatives,
including: striking e-commerce relationships with premier partners
(Williams Sonoma and Dean & Deluca) for Epicurious; formalizing a
business relationship with Microsoft Expedia for Concierge.com; negotiating
a strategic relationship with Procter & Gamble for Phys; and launching
Vogue.com.
Ms. Sheikholeslami has been involved in the Internet since 1994 starting
as manager, Planning & Finance for Time Warner's Digital Marketing
Group in New York where she was involved in strategic planning and
business development. Earlier in her career, she worked for the Courtroom
Television Network and was an associate producer with Hillmann & Carr,
a Washington DC-based documentary film production company. Ms. Sheikholeslami
holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia
and is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service
with a BS in International Economics.
