"Concierge.com Vacation Re-do Contest" Offers Winner A Chance To Turn Nightmare Trip Into $10,000 Dream Vacation

NEW YORK (March 20, 2001) -- Hurricane Andrew was an unwelcome guest at a romantic rendezvous in the Bahamas. A trip to Rio went haywire when a family with young children found itself surrounded by raucous partygoers at Carnivale.

Concierge.com, the comprehensive online travel-planning resource, is reminding consumers about the importance of vacation planning by announcing the "Concierge.com Vacation Re-do Contest." Concierge.com will reward a vacationer with the worst travel experience a $10,000 vacation "re-do" that will replace bad vacation memories with good ones.

Concierge.com invites disheartened travelers to submit an essay of 500 words or less, describing their "vacation horror story." Judging will be based on the magnitude of the "nightmare" and the informative and entertaining nature of the entry. As part of the Grand Prize package, the Web site's travel experts will help plan a dream vacation using their insider knowledge of more than 500 destinations worldwide. Two runners up each will receive a Sony digital camera valued at $500.

How to Enter
  • Each entry should include: An explanation of why the trip went awry (e.g., poor planning, weather, etc.);
  • A description of the trip;
  • Contact information (namee, age, e-mail address, mailing address and phone number).
Essays can be submitted by logging onto Concierge.com or sent to "Concierge.com Vacation Re-do Contest," c/o Porter Novelli, 220 East 42nd Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10017-5806. Staff members and representatives of Concierge.com including honorary judge Wendy Perrin, Condé Nast Traveler Consumer News Editor and Concierge.com Spokesperson, will judge contest entries. Winners will be selected on May 31, 2001.
