-- Former Deputy Editor of Men's Journal to Head Up Leading Travel Site --
NEW YORK, October 20, 2005 - CondéNet, the online arm of Condé Nast Publications, today announced that it has hired Peter Frank, former Deputy Editor of Men's Journal, to be Editor-in-Chief of travel site Concierge.com.
The online home of Condé Nast Traveler, Concierge.com is readying a major relaunch that will incorporate a wealth of original content and a distinctive new look and voice. The venture will be headed up by Frank, who brings over 12 years of travel experience to his role. At Men's Journal he was responsible for assigning and editing stories related to travel, adventure and fashion. Prior to that, Frank was Senior Editor at Travel + Leisure, where his responsibilities included travel features and special packages, one of which was nominated for a National Magazine Award. Frank began his journalism career at Condé Nast Traveler, where he rose through the ranks to become News Editor. At CondéNet, he will report to Editorial Director Jamie Pallot.
"Peter is a rising star in the world of travel journalism, with a wealth of experience and a fantastic reputation," said Pallot. "He is joining us at a very important and exciting time, as we unveil the next version of Concierge.com. The new site is not only a fantastic showcase for Condé Nast Traveler, but also an excellent destination in its own right-a great source of inspiration and information for anyone with an interest in travel."
Over the last several months CondéNet has hired numerous senior-level executives from well-known print publications in response to the success being enjoyed by its destination web sites. In August, Tanya Steel, former New York editor of Bon Appetit, joined Epicurious.com as Editor-in-Chief. And just last week, Marcia Kline, former publisher of Child, joined STYLE.COM and MEN.STYLE.COM, where Dirk Standen was also promoted to Editor-in-Chief. STYLE.COM won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence Online this year.
